The public have a right of access to all parts of the course and the roads on or adjacent to it. Before making the stroke, care MUST therefore be taken to ensure that no person or moving vehicle is within range of the shot or liable to be struck by the ball. If in doubt, WAIT until it is safe to proceed.
LOCAL RULES
A ball is out of bounds if it:
a) Lies beyond a line between the course-side of two adjacent white posts or trunks of hedge bounding the course.
b) Lies on or crosses any tar-macadam road. An unplayable ball against the boundary fence to the left of the 3rd green, where the only available option is stroke and distance, may be dropped in the nearest Dropping Zone which is no nearer the hole, under penalty of one shot.
Relief from interference by an immovable obstruction may be obtained under Rule 24-2.
a) The track and adjoining ditches crossing the 6th and 16th holes, and behind the 17th green.
b) Fixed Sprinkler Heads. In addition, if a ball lies off the putting green but not in a hazard, and an immovable obstruction on or within two clublengths of the putting green and within two club-lengths of the ball intervenes on the line of play between the ball and the hole, the player may take relief as follows; the ball must be lifted and dropped at the nearest point to where the ball lay that (i) is not nearer the hole, (ii) avoids intervention and (iii) is not in a hazard or on a putting green.
c) Fairway Distance Markers.
d) Ridgeway and Footpath Markers.
e) Wooden posts and rails.
f) Staked and/or wired trees.
Stones in bunkers. Rule 24-1 applies.
The pond on the 9th fairway is a Water Hazard, defined by a yellow line. Rule 26 applies. Ditches adjoining the course boundaries are part of the course.
Rakes should be placed in the Bunkers after use.
Flagstick Position Markers:
Blue flag - Pin at front of the green.
Red flag - Pin in middle of the green.
Yellow flag - Pin at back of the green.
Fairway Distance Markers:
White Disc - 150 yards to green centre.
Red Disc - 100 yards to green centre.
Penalty for Breach of Local Rule:
Match Play - Loss of Hole.
Stroke Play - Two Strokes.
